This week is Heroes week. Next week is the finals. Wow, this season went by fast.
The cutest guy in the competition, Paul Salos, is up first. He’ll be singing “New York, New York” for his wife. Oh no, Piers buzzed him. What? Is he crazy? I thought he did much better than last week- I loved it! Piers thinks Paul is a $1,000,000 guy but not a $1,000,000 act. Sharon thought Paul was fabulous. David said Paul nailed it!
Kaitlyn Maher is our next performer tonight. She’s singing “I’ll be There” by the Jackson 5 for her hero, her dad. She’s adorable! I’m an emotional disaster, I’m crying as I’m watching her sing! Goodness, what’s wrong with me? Piers says it’s amazing she can remember all the words as she is only 4 years old. He doesn’t think it would be fair to her to put her on a Las Vegas stage. Sharon says she looks divine! David says Kaitlyn makes him so happy whenever he sees her.
Donald Braswell’s wife is his strength and inspiration. He has an inspirational story and a wonderful voice, but I’d probably get bored watching his show in Vegas. Piers is not sure if Donald is as good a singer as some of the other acts in the competition. Sharon tells Donald he looks sexy. David loves Donald’s story and would buy his album in a minute.
Jessica Price’s hero is her mom. She will be singing “In the Arms of an Angel” by Sarah McLachlan. I like her dress- very elegant. David has tears in his eyes and gives her a standing ovation. Piers says tonight she finally had it all together. Sharon says it was perfect and suits her style. David’s choked up over it.
Joseph Hall’s hero is….. Elvis? Yep. Knew it. He’s singing “A Little Less Talk”. He does sound remarkably like Elvis and would be incredibly successful in Vegas. Piers is judging him purely on his singing tonight and says it was terrible. He thinks it sounded like he was drunk and performing in a karaoke bar, but admits Joseph is incredibly entertaining. Sharon couldn’t hear the whole song due to the screaming fans in the audience. David doesn’t know what Piers is smokin’, he thinks Joseph is on his game and nailed it.
Neal E. Boyd’s singing “All By Myself” with an opera twist. He is dedicating his performance to his choir director. He really is fabulous! I loved his performance. Piers says Neal took a risk and predicts Neal will come back next week. Sharon says the beginning was rough, but the chorus gave her goose bumps. David agrees and says Neal is the front runner in this competition.
The Wright kids are performing “ABC” by the Jackson 5. I missed who their hero is because I was watching 90210. Piers says they’re amazing for their age, but it will be tough for them to get into the top 5. Sharon says it was well done. David says he loves them, but he preferred last week’s performance to this week’s.
Queen Emily’s hero is her grandmother. Her grandmother’s parting words were for her to believe in herself. She has such a powerful voice! Piers agrees with her grandmother that she is something special. He says she was brilliant. Sharon says she has a sensational voice and stage presence and is a born entertainer. David says she hit it out of the park!
The brothers in Nuttin’ But Stringz’s hero is their mom. She’s a single mom who provided a strong foundation for them. They will be performing an original piece called “Winner”. They play which such passion. Wow! I wonder if they’ll play at my wedding. That was awesome! Piers says they were brave to play an original piece. Piers also says of all the acts, he would pay his own money to see their act in Vegas. Sharon says they are show-stoppers, so versatile, and she wants to meet their mom. David says they are fresh and that he’ll see them in the finals.
Our last performer of the night is Eli Mattson. His hero is Elton John and saw him in concert when he was 12 years old. He’s singing an Elton John song- Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word. He’s amazing on the piano. I dont’ think I’ve ever heard this song. Piers asks Eli how he feels about his performance. Eli says it feels great. Piers agreed and tells him his piano playing was spectacular. Sharon says he played with such emotion and passion. It was fantastic! David says he nailed it. According to David, everyone nailed it.
I voted for Paul Salos, Queen Emily, Nuttin’ But Stringz, and Neal E. Boyd.
