Wedding Weekend Update Part 2

Posted by: Laura on: October 24, 2008

I was informed that the flower girl dress I had picked out was no longer available to order. Oh, great. One more thing I had to worry about. Saturday I was to take some time out from the shower to pick out a new dress for my niece.

Saturday morning, my parents picked me up at the sister’s and we drove about 2 hours to meet with the lady who was going to potentially make the cake. Initially I wanted cheesecake, but it is so expensive. We’re having cheesecake at the rehearsal dinner now. The cake lady was really nice and had some good decorating ideas. I told her the number of people we were expecting (about 200) and she went downstairs to calculate the price.

Cake lady: “Well keep in mind, this includes the candles for decorating and I had to modify the cake to have one sheet cake or the round ones would be too large.”

Me (silently): “Oh great, it’s gonna be a lot more than I was expecting.” (Which was around $300)

Cake lady: “Ok, so the rough estimate is $190 for everything”

My parents had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Me: “Sounds good. So how much is the deposit again?”

$190 is less than a dollar a person for cake. Awesome! We’re totally going with her. My parents and I then drove the 2 hours back to my sister’s to get ready for my bridal shower.

The only members of mine and Jesse’s family that have met are his mom and my parents and one of my sisters. Before my parents and I had arrived at the shower, most of Jesse’s family had arrived to find all 3 of my sisters, their kids, my bro-in-law, and my grandma. Basically, no one they had ever met. Nice. Way to go me…I’m not a very welcoming soon to be in-law.

They had done all their introductions by the time I had arrived which was good. My sisters are very friendly so I really didn’t think they would have any problems approaching Jesse’s family.

We had a good turnout for the shower and received a lot of nice gifts. We loaded up all the gifts for Jesse’s mom to store at her house for us. Then we headed to get our nails done for my bachelorette party.

I had completely forgotten all about the flower girl dress…. TO BE CONTINUED
