Life of the unemployed

Posted by: Laura on: October 29, 2008

I woke up about 7:30 this morning realizing I didn’t have to go to work. I started sobbing. Jesse heard me and came up to my bed. “What’s wrong?” “I have no job!” I sobbed. He reassured me I’d get one and that we would be okay.

Nugget extended his paw to touch my arm as if to comfort me. He’s a sweet little boy! Why are dogs only called man’s best friend? Cats can tell when you’re happy and sad. Kitty has been by my side through many teary nights.

I laid in bed crying for 20 minutes or so and decided I wasn’t going to get a job by laying in bed crying all day. I decided to file an unemployment claim. I got a call from the other accountant who got laid off (the new girl).

While wrapping up my conversation from her, I was getting another call. I looked at the number- an Idaho number. It must be an employer who got my resume last night. I quickly hung up with my former co-worker and answered. I was right. It was a staffing agency wondering if I’d be interested in a position they have available. It was something I was interested in and qualified for. We set up an interview for 2:30. Fantastic! My first day of unemployment and I have an interview!

I got ready for the interview- researching the company, printing directions, ironing my suit. I headed to the staffing agency. The interview went really well. The lady at the staffing agency thought I was a great fit for the position and will pass my resume along to the company. I should know in a few days about the position. I’m still going to keep looking in case this one doesn’t work out.

Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and support!!

Well, I came over from Sarah’s to console you on your jobloss, and end up finding that congrats are possibly in order! Good luck! I’ll say a prayer that this is truly what you want and it works out for you.
