Ah, David Archuleta’s hometown.
Utah is self-proclaimed as the friendliest place on earth. Randy doesn’t know what state Salt Lake City is in. Hahaha. Paula thinks there will be talent here.
David Osmond is the son of Alan Osmond, one of the first performing Osmond’s. Alan and David both have multiple sclerosis. David sings “Something Within Me” by Take 6. I’ve never heard it, but I like his voice. Paula says he needs to see himself as a solo artist. It’s not Randy’s favorite song. Kara says with all the runs, it’s hard to tell what kind of artist he would be. Simon says if he wants to be a contemporary artist it won’t work. He’s through to Hollywood.
Tara Mathews is a goth who claims to have ESP. She claims to know when people will die. She sings “One Day I’ll Fly Away” from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. It’s not good. Simon says it was horrendous and she sounded like a baby. She leaves after he comments and storms passed Ryan.
Next a crew of 3 people who are awful.
Chris Kirkham’s friend is Greg, the Bunny. Greg is a rather large man dressed in a pink bunny suit. Chris also has a picture cut out of Simon’s head on his t-shirt and on a Popsicle stick to use as a fan. I thought he was decent, but the judges didn’t. Greg, the Bunny, picked up Simon in a bear hug on his way out of the audition room.
Next is a parade of people being turned down by the judges.
Frankie Jordan, a stay at home mom, is up next. Simon quite likes her. Paula says she has a definable voice. 4 yeses.
Megan Corkrey is newly divorced and has a 2 year old son. She’s auditioning on her birthday. She has a very unique voice. Kara says it was interesting. Randy kinda likes it. Paula loves it. Simon loves it and says it was one of his favorite auditions. 4 yeses.
Andrew Gibson is next. He was an incredibly deep voice. Simon says it’s not gonna work. It’s a no.
Austin Sisenros is the senior class president of his high school. He wants to be an inspiration to others. He sings Train’s “When I look to the Sky”. Randy thought it was ok- not a great song choice. He then sings a Rafi song. Randy says he has a voice, but weird song choices. He says yes. Kara says he’s real genuine. Paula says he’s charming. She says yes. Simon says he needs to be young and that he’s real likable. 4 yeses.
Another parade of the judges turning people down.
Jarrett Burns sings “Put Your Records On” pretty well, but they only show him for a few seconds.
A 5′11″ tall, 16 year old girl, who lived in Samoa is next. Taylor Vaifanua sings “Ode to Joy” Ooh, I like that song. Kara was impressed and seen her in the bathroom practicing. Randy says it was the best he’s heard this season. She’s through. Ok, why is Randy calling Kara “Kah-ra”?
Rose Flack is from Idaho. Go, Idaho! She lives with her best friend and her family. Her dad died when she was 13 and her mom was killed in a car accident 2 years later. She has a very hippie style. Simon says she looks fantastic. She sings Carol King’s “I Feel The Earth Move.” Paula says she has a beautiful face and aura, but to work on the vocals. Simon didn’t like the song choice, but says he’ll remember her. 4 yeses.
What? Idol is on tomorrow night? Ok, more American Idol tomorrow.
