American Idol Season 8 Top 8 Results

Posted by: Laura on: April 8, 2009

Flo-rida is here tonight. Unfortunately, so is Kellie Pickler.

The year Simon was born Frankie Avalon was at the top of the charts. Frankie comes out on the stage singing and says that song came out in 1959 implying Simon will be 50 this year. Simon, jokingly, corrects Frankie that he was born in 1969.

The group performs “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” from the year Idol was born, 2002. They don’t appear to be lip synching this week and poor Scott has to be guided to his places for the choreography.

The Ford music video is to “Circus” by Britney Spears. We see a behind the scenes making the video clip.

Adam was honored by Simon’s standing ovation last night. The mayor of Kalamazoo, Michigan is here to support Matt.

Adam, Kris, and Anoop are up first for the results. The other 3 judges praise Adam’s performance last night. He’s safe. Anoop’s in the bottom. I’m surprised. I thought it would be Kris.

Flo-rida sings “Right Round”. I’ve never understood the rappers who come out with an unknown rapper to rap with them. Who are they are why don’t they get any credit?

Danny’s safe. Matt’s safe. Scott’s in the bottom 3.

Allison and Lil are next. Lil is also in the bottom 3. Simon says there is one contestant, in particular, they’d consider saving. My guess is Lil.

Kellie Pickler sings “The Best Days of Your Life”. Ugh, I don’t understand how people can actually like her nasally whiny sounding voice. She’s a cute girl, but she can’t sing! She co-wrote that song with Taylor Swift.

The first person sent back to safety is Lil. There were over 30 million votes last night and only 30,000 votes separated Anoop and Scott. The person with the lowest number of votes is Scott. He’s singing for the judges to save him. I saw his mom crying and now I’m tearing up! Scott’s doing better than last night. He isn’t playing the guitar tonight. Simon says they’re undecided. 2 of the judges think he should stay and 2 think he should go. Simon makes the decision and it’s the end of the competition for Scott.

Paula gets the last words by adding that Scott’s been an inspiration for the whole world.
